This morning I woke up from a good night's sleep to a horrible nightmare. As soon as I woke up I asked myself when am I going to get this cult out of my head. As a disclaimer I just want you all to know my wife would never do this because she is a hard fast atheist. Here is the nightmare (I came home to find my wife dress in a red dress. I ask her were is she was going and she said I am going to the memorial and I am running late. I said in a confused voice "are you nuts, why would you be going there. She told me she has reconsider what she has believe and feels the wt has it right. I told her I can't believe what you are saying and further more are you wanting me to go. ). I woke up before I got a answer. What a way to wake up from a good night sleep. I think this dream came up because on Sunday afternoon when we came home there was a wt pamphlet in our door inviting us to the memorial on Tuesday at 9:30 PM. Both my wife and I joked about how late it was and who in their right mind would go to a strange place that late at night. Especially on a work night. Of course when we went to bed last night my wife did say just think the memorial is just now getting started. We both laughed. It just amazing how the control of this cult still effects me even though I have not step into a kingdom Hall for over 6 years now. Anyone else have these silly dreams? I now need to get back to my reprograming. Still Totally ADD

Test yourself...Which Religion Best Suits You, what non religion best suits you.
by Giordano insince we have had so many joining up while others have changed their thinking it doesn't hurt to see where we stand now .. this 20 question test is not the definitive test but it may be revealing or affirming....... find out where your religious or nonreligious comfort range is.. i just took it and my #1 choice was that i was a secular humanist.
being a jw was #24........ way way down the list.. www.playbuzz.com/benjaminbirely10/which-religion-best-suits-you.
you start by clicking on the general statement that is closest to how you think.

New letter about Circuit Conventions accounting procedures
by Hecce ini hope that one of the friends will post the letter soon.
i heard that on 3/27/2017 a letter with new instructions about the accounts at the circuit conventions was released.
the letter seems to adopt many of the corrections that had been suggested here at the forum, among other things during the accounts report they will be no mention of the per capita and the amount due is going to be released only to the elders.

Hence when I was a elder we was always told verbally not to tell the per capita cost of the assembly hall. Now they are putting it in writing. Still Totally ADD

We just moved into a old farm house built in 1900 on 1 acre. The property has woods on three sides. We are only two blocks outside Jamestown NY city limits. It is on a very quiet road. You would never know you are so close to town. Waiting until mid to late May to plant our garden. But I do have hardneck garlic coming up thanks to the warm winter we had. I will be putting up a 20' x 30' green house this year to lengthen my growing season. On our walk today we did see coltsfoot flowers along the road. Which is one of the first signs of spring. So any of our pictures would just show dead grass and no leaves on the trees. Still Totally ADD

Observations From an Ex-Elder Part 3 - Searching for the Lost Sheep
by doubtfull1799 in"what man among you with 100 sheep, on losing one of them, will not leave the 99 behind in the wilderness and go after the lost one until he finds it?
" - luke 15:4. disclaimer: by posting the following observations i am not complaining.
i am happy to be left alone.

1799 your story is pretty common. Same thing happen to me. After severing for 25 years and the last 3 years as the PO not one elder came to see us. My brother who is a elder when he calls me does not even say anything about the WT even though he knows I drop out. I feel those who are remaining as elders are over work and under paid. Has anyone here joined a different church after ditching the JWs?
by NikL ini am just curious.. i have a cousin who is a baptist and his church streams their sunday services and i've been checking them out before i go to meeting with my jw wife.. i haven’t been to a church except for the occasional funeral and wedding and the only sermons i had heard were the tel-evangelist type.
anyway, all the church bashing by jws over the years made me unsure what to expect and i was pleasantly surprised.
they do use the bible and they don't spend the whole time begging for money.

After going to a small community Church for about 9 months we left because it was intellectual deprived. It was like going to kindergarten every Sunday. Also the preacher knew my wife was a atheist and at the end started saying bad things about atheists. So we left. During that time I became a atheist. We found a Unitarian Universalist congregation nearby and feel in love with it. Just about everyone there are atheist. Most came from mainline religion but we are the only XJW which makes us very unique. We have had the opportunity to give several talks on cults. We are going on 5 years now and my only regret is why couldn't I have learned about UU religion 55 years ago. Still Totally ADD

Half banana you are right about 8 million people in the borg suffer with low self esteem. When I was in a week did not go by that I was reminded that I was a good for nothing slave. I agree " may it soon be exposed and dismantle.
Flipper all good books to read. If you have just left please read these books. I think as born-ins we will always be working on our authentic personality. It just nice I did not turn out to be a asshole as my anthentic personality. LOL. Good for you for standing up to your family. I hope it showed them that you are not mentally disease but instead a person who is thoughtful and good. You take care of yourself and have a great day. Still Totally ADD

I remember when I first came on this site back in 2007 many of the threads talk about after you leave a cult you need to find your Authentic Personality. I have found this takes a lot of effort. I found this article from the Huffington Post under Healthy Living date 7-29-2014. (Six signs you're a truly genuine person). 1. You have high self-esteem. To much is not good and to little is not good. You want something solid in the middle. 2. You embrace vulnerability. The stronger your self esteem, the more able you are to admit your failing and to receive criticism. 3. You share your true thoughts, beliefs and opinions with the world. 4. You openly give and receive compliments. 5. You really listen-and prefer deep conversations. 6. You're driven by a inner voice rather than your surroundings.
Merrian-Webster defines Authentic as a quality of being genuine and worthy of belief. Hence, a person who is completely trustworthy is deemed to be Authentic. Yet to be genuine a certain transparency, whereby others can witness the unfiltered personality,.without any masking.
I find point number 4 is one I still need to work on. Being a born-in and being called "a good for nothing slave" for 54 years it is still hard to take a compliments. So I guess I am still working on my Authentic Personality. So the question is how are the rest of you doing? My wife keeps telling me it takes time. Still Totally ADD
